Well, we finally got a chance to get out of town and... CAMP OUT in the wilderness. And I'd say the 6 of us roughed it out there as the rain down poured, the lighting lit up the sky and the thunder rolled!!

As excited as I was to go, I was a bit hesitant, because just 2 days prior, our 9 month old came down with a fever. So taking her in to the Dr. the next morning, she apparently had a double ear infection and was put on antibiotics. With school starting around the corner, and our schedules already reserved for this trip, the Dr. gave the approval, and we continued to give it a go.
It stormed the entire first night we were there, which made it kind of exciting to be out of the valley heat for a change, but not so great to stargaze through our telescope, nor take lots of night pics with the soggy outdoors... but we still had a great time! This was our son and nephew's first time camping outdoors so of COURSE, we had to have smores after our delicious BBQ'd dinner my husband had grilled up! Luckily the rain died down for a bit long enough for us to enjoy the fire and tasty treats. I had forgotten how dark (or should I say pitch black) it gets outside, where the only thing you could see with your light was your breath steam. I loved it!!!

The next morning was absolutely gorgeous! Not only did our baby girl wake up as happy as ever, sleeping the entire night... but we woke up to light sprinkles and large Elk gazing around our tents making strange noises that now my son can imitate very well! I thought for sure they'd come back with the smell of our breakfast! Lol

We later ventured out to the beautiful lake we were to go fishing in and then explore a little bit of the majestic beauty around the Rim.

... and because my husband and I love taking photos during our trips, we oftentimes turn to look at each other and have a lens attached to our face that looks a little like this. LoL!

In the end, it was a fun family experience, and we're all so glad we went... but I think the best thing of all was our family bonding and memories made.

On our trip home our son couldn't stop talking about how much fun he had outdoors. And when we were finally back home from the trip, unpacked, cleaned up and ready for bed... he says to me: "Momma, I had SO much fun camping! When can we pack up and go again??"
